How Do Braces Work?

Braces work by applying constant and gentle pressure to your teeth, causing them to shift into alignment over time. Brackets are placed on the front of each tooth and wires are attached to the brackets with elastic bands. The elastic bands absorb the tension of the wire and the teeth then align themselves to the shape of the wire.

How do invisible and Invisalign braces work?

With the invisible brace system, a series of clear plastic aligners are used to align the teeth. This nearly invisible plastic is removable and can be taken out when you eat or chew gum. Better yet, with invisible braces you can brush your teeth and floss without the obstruction of metal braces getting in your way.

Dr. Dhayni will begin your fitting by carefully examining your teeth. Then he will use the latest 3-D computer technology to create a model of your teeth. Once the Invisalign system has generated a computerized 3-D model of your teeth, it will then produce a series of customized aligners.

After your customized aligners have been created, you will wear them for approximately 2-3 weeks. A new set will be created once every 2 to 3 weeks, gradually moving your teeth week by week until your teeth are perfectly aligned. Most people will achieve perfect alignment in less than one year.
