Dental Fillings
A dental filling is fabricated dental material that is used to restore a tooth when a small cavity or secondary cavity is present. If you have a dental cavity or would like to see if you do have any dental cavities please contact Dr. Dhayni, DDS to schedule an appointment at (586)-558-8200 or email us at info@warrendentistry.com. Our office is located at 30205 Schoenherr Rd, Suite E, Warren, Michigan 48088. Dr. Dhayni, of Warren Dentistry, provides general and cosmetic dental services in the Metro Detroit Michigan Area.
A dental filling can be made of:
-
amalgam (silver) – amalgam was a very common material used for a dental filling. Amalgam fillings are made up of silver, tin, copper, zinc and mercury. They are strong and durable, but they require more tooth structure to be removed to shape the tooth for the amalgam dental filling, they are less attractive and they expand and contract with heat and cold. As a result, many dentists recommend placing a resin composite, white dental filling.
-
resin composite (white) - starting to become the most popular material used for a dental filling. Made up of a mixture of porcelain and plastic resin composite. They are just as strong and durable as amalgam dental fillings, but they are more attractive and minimal amount of tooth structure is removed, if any when being placed. Resin composite, white dental fillings usually cost more than amalgam dental fillings.
-
porcelain – Is usually used when there is a vary large cavity or teeth decay present. Porcelain dental fillings are strong, look more natural and harder than tooth enamel, therefore they usually cost more than amalgam dental filling and resin composite white dental fillings.
-
gold – is usually used when the patient has a strong desire for gold dental fillings. Gold dental fillings are about as hard as tooth enamel. They are not natural looking and cost more money than amalgam dental fillings, resin composite white filling and porcelain dental fillings.
So please call Dr. Dhayni today if you have a failing dental filling, would like to swap out your old amalgam dental fillings with resin composite white dental fillings or to see if you even have any dental cavities present. The cost of treating dental cavities depends on the type of treatment you want and what Dr. Dhayni recommends. We have various payment options and financing is available for those who qualify.
